YU SUDA, one of Japan's leading graphic artists who has held solo exhibitions
in Japan and abroad, has printed a modern arrangement of Ukiyoe,
Edo period woodblock prints,on a lacquered skateboard deck using the techniques of Yamanaka Lacquerware, a traditional Japanese craft.
The unique luster of the deck surface is due to lacquering, and the unique luster
and three-dimensional effect of the metal powder is due to modern Maki-e painting. Each process is "Made in Japan" and "Made in YAMANAKA", and the spraying of lacquer and the painting with modern maki-e require a lot of time and effort, including drying between each process.
The deck is made of high quality and durable Canadian maple 7PLY.
